Please read the information below so that your player will be ready to play.

WRSA has been asked by the Flood Brook Union School Board to administer the soccer program for the seventh and eighth grades this fall. To help ensure the program’s success, to facilitate planning, and to qualify expectations, the following information is offered.

Objective: To provide a program consistent with the philosophies of both WRSA and Flood Brook School, which emphasize the teaching and development of good sportsmanship and teamwork, as well as game skills and knowledge. As a traditional middle school sports program, we introduce the participants to a higher level of competition while still remaining inclusive. All players will receive playing time; but the length of an individual’s game play is at the coach’s discretion and will ultimately reflect the coach’s judgment of the player’s attitude, commitment, attendance, and ability to represent the school honorably.

Parent’s Expectations: Parents can expect their children to have a healthy and enjoyable learning opportunity as a member of the school team. They can expect experienced coaches, timely information, and open communication with the team coach and manager.

Parent’s Responsibilities:

1.      Arranging transportation for your child to games and practices. Timely drop-off and pick-up of players is essential, as students must be supervised on school grounds after hours. Coaches are not responsible for supervising players outside of scheduled practice or game times.
    2.
Ensuring that the player has had a physical exam within the last two years.
    3.
Assuring that your child has health insurance coverage.
    4.
Notifying the coach of your child’s health changes or injuries and any scheduled absences.
    5.
Encouraging your child, and setting an example of good sportsmanship. Save criticism of players, coaches, opponents, and referees to the appropriate forum.
    6.
Offer to help-out as you are able, to provide a good experience for the whole team.

Player’s Role:

1.      Maintain academic eligibility.
    2.
Abiding by the coach’s team rules and the Flood Brook Athletic Code of Conduct.
    3.
      Modeling good sportsmanship and motivation.
    4.
Ensuring proper care and return of the uniform.

5.      All players must wear mouth guards to practice and games.

Communications: Information will be made available through the web site, handouts from the coaches or managers, articles in the Message, and by a phone and email chain established by the manager. Cancellations or schedule changes will be announced at school.
