West River Nordic ProgramOur goal is to encourage as many young skiers and their families as possible to enjoy the activity of cross country skiing. We have some exciting changes to our program. First, all skiers who sign up will receive a youth trail pass to both Wild Wings & Viking touring Centers. This pass will allow skiers to ski at these areas not just at practices, but anytime they wish. Second, our club has purchased some new equipment which we will make available to skiers who would like to try the sport, before buying equipment. We also encourage parents to ski with the groups to make it a family activity. As part of our educational focus, parents and skiers will be instructed in waxing technique. The program leaders will give advice on waxing, but the responsibility for having properly prepared skis will rest with the skiers and parents. Skiers in all age groups will be exposed to both the fundamentals of skiing, and the current skiing techniques. The ages listed below are the minimum; older skiers may also participate in the 1 or 2-day programs. Striders: This program is skiers born in 2002 or earlier. An introduction to classical skiing.
